But this month has already seen some transfer activity at the Clydebank Post with broadcaster Sky Sports swooping to sign one of our best sports reporters.
Sahil Jaidka has been covering Clydebank’s sports beat for the past four years and his sterling efforts have helped secure him a high profile move to one of the biggest media organisations in the country.
The 22-year-old has started 2014 on a high after landing his dream job as a producer on the Sky News sports bulletins and it could not have come at a better time with so much transfer activity expected to keep supporters glued to their TV sets over the coming weeks.
Sahil, who also contributed to our sister papers, the Dumbarton and Vale of Leven Reporter, Helensburgh Advertiser, Barrhead News and Johnstone and Renfrewshire Gazette, said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed working at the Clydebank Post and it was a very tough decision to leave. However, the opportunity that presented itself to me at Sky News was one that I could not pass up.
“Getting to know the people of the area, especially those at the sports clubs has been a pleasure and the relationships I have built are ones I won’t forget.” He added: “Looking back on my time at the Post, I have learned so much and have so many good memories. My new challenge is certainly going to be different, but it is something I will learn from and I am really looking forward to it.
“I have no doubt the sports section will continue to develop and grow and I hope all the teams continue to grow and succeed in the future.” During his time at the Post Sahil covered many football matches, the Olympics homecoming parade, Clydebank’s Sectional League Cup final win and the switch at Old Trafford between two ex-Drumchapel Amateur’s stars, Sir Alex Ferguson and David Moyes, as well as breaking many exclusive stories.
Clydebank Post editor Emma Quigley said: “Sahil has been a valuable member of our team for over four years now and he thoroughly deserves this opportunity. It’s proof that our newspapers offer young and talented journalists the opportunity to develop their skills and flourish in a very competitive industry. It’s a great move for Sahil and we wish him every success.”
