PLATINUM selling global rock stars proved they were not American Idiots by making Clydebank their port of call before a sell-out concert.
Punk rock legends Green Day used a day off before their show in Glasgow last week to head into the town to make use of a pioneering new recording studio and practice rooms.
The American trio - Billie-Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool - headed down to Sonic Boom Studios in Andrew Court, Whitecrook, to record a couple of demo tracks and hung out with Bankie George Henry, who runs the studio.
George, who opened the premises a few months ago after a flit from his old studio in Hume Street, was stunned to host the world-famous icons by the banks of the Clyde.
He told the Post: "They had asked to find some studio time for the day to demo two brand new tracks, which we won't hear for at least a year.
"They asked a mutual friend of Green Day's tour management and myself and they ended up booking in to Sonic Boom for the whole day after hearing what we had to offer in our recording studio.
"Billie-Joe and Mike turned up around 5pm and stayed until 10pm tracking their new stuff - it was a great experience and I even got to play some drums as well.
"I'm still gobsmacked that they were actually here."
