PUPILS went head to head as Clyde Primary School held its inaugural sports days recently.
The children competed against each other in their houses – Kelpie, Selkie, Nessie and Wulver – which are named after Scottish myths and legends.
Up for grabs was the first ever House Challenge Cup and students took on a range of challenges – centred around basketball, football, obstacle courses and other sporting activities.
The P5-7 sports day was held on Monday, June 11, while the P1-4 sports day took place on Thursday, June 14.
Alan Digweed, the school’s depute head teacher, told the Post: “We were obviously limited in the space that we had due to the on-going construction work but managed to pull together two great afternoons of sport.
“We place a high value on keeping our children active through the year so we are delighted to see all the year’s hard work come together.”
Among the highlights, Mr Digweed cited the mess that the children got into with their water challenge, seeing P7 pupils and young people from Knightswood Secondary School help out, and the fruit and water that was given to children by Sainsbury’s.
Mr Digweed added: “Unfortunately due to wet weather, our P1-4 sports day had to be moved in-doors.
“We have a massive gym hall but 180 children engaged in sport fill it up quickly so we couldn’t have parents for that afternoon.
“During our senior event parents came along and love watching their children compete. We will need to include a parent’s event for next year.”
