A youngster from Clydebank has become the British Schools Judo Champion after dominating a tough field at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.
Emma McCabe from Titan Judo Club in Clydebank travelled down to the annual British Schools Judo Championships with her coach Paul McGuinness to compete in the -40kg category.
One of the most competitive weekend’s of judo on the calendar at this level, the British Schools Championships has stringent entry requirements that demands any players must have won a medal at the British Minors Championships, British Pre-Cadet Championships, British Cadet Championships or British Junior Championships in the last two years.

Emma was in supreme form throughout as she eased through the field, showing a real maturity to win every single match by ippon - the highest score a fighter can achieve in Japanese martial arts.
The Titan youngster showed signs of how good she could be at the British National Championships at the same venue in January where she finished fifth in her first major competition at that level.
Emma’s hard work and the hard work of all at Titan Judo in the months since were there for everyone to see on Sunday as she clinched a well-deserved gold.

Fellow Titan judoka Paige Gilfillan also travelled down to the state of the art venue along with Emma and Paul to take part in her first event at this level.
Competing in the -52kg weight class, Paige impressed throughout with great structure and strong grips, improving in every match and scoring an ippon in her second fight.
The strong competition proved too much on the day as she couldn’t quite secure a medal but her performance in a top field makes for an exciting year ahead.
