A MUM-to-be from Clydebank got the surprise of her life when she was meant to find out the gender of her baby – but instead got asked by her partner to marry him.

Amy Leishman, 25, and Kevin McIntyre, 30, held a gender reveal party for their baby in front of their family and friends.

However, Kevin who organised the event in his mum and dads Dalmuir home, came up with a different idea, and instead of filling the balloon with pink or blue confetti, he filled it with silver, leaving everyone a bit confused when it was popped.

A note was found on the floor along with the confetti that had a personal message and at the end, read: “So I’ve got a question I need to ask you…,” before Kevin got down on one knee and asked: “Will you marry me?”

In a video posted below that a family member took, Amy was heard saying “I’m shaking” and was left in tears when the ring was being placed on her finger.

Another balloon was then popped, revealing that the couple’s baby due in October, is to be a baby girl.

Kevin, who is a Royal Mail postman, said: “So I was planning on proposing at some point in the next year. When we found out Amy was pregnant in February and that she wanted to do the gender reveal thing with the balloon, a few weeks beforehand the idea popped into my head, no pun intended, and I thought it was a cracking idea.

“I put the plan into action, and it went brilliantly with all our close friends and family there.

“I still can’t believe I found someone that makes me so happy just by looking at her. I want to spend the rest of my life trying to make Amy feel the same way I do every time I look at her.”

The couple first met in the Gala Bingo in Clydebank, where Kevin was a caller, and Amy came in with her Mum. They went on their first date on Boxing Day in 2016.
