PUPILS at Our Holy Redeemer Primary School now have their very own outdoor classroom.

The school celebrated the launch of the facility along with West Dunbartonshire Council’s Provost William Hendrie and Councillor Marie McNair on May 22.

Joanne Brown, head teacher at the Clydebank school, said: “This classroom, which is located within our forest school, gives our children an excellent opportunity to fully engage in outdoor learning in all weather.

“The launch was a big success and showed how children, staff and parents can all work together to use the area for learning.”

The funding for the project came from the Glasgow Airport Flightpath Fund, the council’s Your Community Fund, and fundraising activity by the Parents’ Council.

Provost Hendrie said: “The outdoor classroom is magnificent, and the design of it fascinated the kids. They all had smiles on their faces, and will enjoy learning in it in the future.

“It is great that they can get to play outdoors – as long as the weather is okay.

“The work that has been carried out here over the past few years is outstanding. It is very different to when I was at school!”

Councillor McNair, who opened the classroom along with the Provost, added:“I was delighted to be asked along, and to be on hand to observe the pupils using the classroom for the first time.

“The community is very much at the heart of this school and I would like to thank everyone involved for making this possible, and for all their hard work and tenacity in seeing this project through to completion.”
