A MOUNTBLOW man has admitted abusive behaviour towards his partner two days in a row.
Derek Joyce carried out abuse on “a number of occasions” on November 23 and 24 last year.
He confessed to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner, and causing fear and alarm at an address in West Street.
Joyce, of Lilac Avenue, also admitted gesticulating aggressively towards his partner, and making derogatory remarks to her.
The charge was aggravated because it involved a partner or ex-partner.
Joyce was told to attend the PAIR programme which aims to change the behaviour of domestic abusers, and was ordered to be supervised by social workers for a year.
At Dumbarton Sheriff Court last Tuesday, Joyce’s defence agent said: “He said he was looking forward to starting the PAIR project.
“His family is under stress, but he is willing to seek any help available.”
Sheriff William Gallacher told Joyce: “This is a matter which should not have occurred.
“Your behaviour was unacceptable.”
Sheriff Gallacher handed Joyce a community payback order, with supervision for one year and told him he must attend the PAIR programme.

He added: “Make sure you do [attend]. The world will be a better place for you and for those around you.
“The supervision for a year and going on the PAIR programme is a direct alternative to custody.”
