McDonald’s bosses have teased the return of their delivery service and their breakfast menu in Scotland.

Last week, pictures from across the country showed hundreds of hungry residents queuing up for drive-thru at the fast food restaurant as they reopened for the first time since coronavirus lockdown began.

Currently, unlike pre-lockdown, there is no delivery service available.

But, according to the Mirror, the ‘McDelivery’ will be “back on” in more than 500 branches next week – using apps Uber Eats and Just Eat.

They also revealed that the breakfast menu will return “within a few weeks”.

The fast food chain has already opened up 852 restaurants for drive-thru across the UK, as well as 56 for delivery and another 26 for both.

In an email to customers seen by tabloid, Paul Pomroy, Chief Executive Officer of McDonald's UK, said: "Next week we will switch McDelivery back on in over 500 restaurants, with the help of our delivery partners Uber Eats and Just Eat.

"As with our Drive-thru operations, it might take a little longer. We expect demand to once again be high and both of these factors might impact service times.

"But I know you'll continue to show the patience we've seen all week and I thank you again for your understanding.

"I hope that within a few weeks we will be able to start trialling breakfast service."

No list of the branches set to run the delivery service have yet been released.
