POLICE Scotland are asking Bankies to take personal responsibility and remember to wear a face covering when shopping and on public transport in order to aid the collective effort to stay safe, protect others and save lives by preventing Covid-19 from spreading.
Officers in the area will continue to engage with the public, explain the legislation, guidance and encourage compliance.
Police Scotland say they will use enforcement as a last resort, only where there is a clear breach of the legislation.
A number of exemptions exist that mean certain people are not required to wear a face covering in a shop.
The police say people should raise any concerns with business owners or shop staff in the first instance.
