Seventeen affordable homes could soon be developed in Linnvale by the Clydebank Housing Association after the council agreed to sell them vacant land for £30,000.
West Dunbartonshire Council will offer 570 square metres of empty space at Attlee Avenue to the housing association allowing them to continue their project.
The organisation had previously contacted the local authority with a view to buying the land and combing it with their adjacent site to increase social housing provision.
Clydebank Housing Association has already purchased the land at the junction of Attlee and Dalton Avenue from the Church of Scotland.
Members of the infrastructure, regeneration and economic development committee were presented with a report last week.
It highlights that the land the housing association already owns could accommodate houses for 98 people, but the inclusion of the West Dunbartonshire Council land could accommodate homes for an additional 17 people.
This would bring the total to 115 people across 28 units. The Clydebank Housing Association previously commissioned Avison Young Valuers to provide a valuation of the land who were of the opinion it was worth £30,000.
During the same meeting the committee agreed to bring a prominent town centre building back to life by selling a property at 87-89 Bank Street Alexandria to two local residents for 130,000.
Alternatives, the drug rehabilitation programme serving West Dunbartonshire residents, had previously shown interest in the property but decided that the property was out with their price range and withdrew.
The new landlords intend to renovate the second floor as a flat for residential use and to retain commercial uses on the ground and first floors.
The offer from the council is conditional upon the owners receiving a satisfactory mortgage to assist with the funding of the purchase.
