West Dunbartonshire residents have recently fallen victim to scam telephone calls, Police Scotland has revealed.
Officers in the area say criminals are exploiting the coronavirus pandemic and have been describing themselves to victims as long lost relatives or friends as well as those purporting to be from a organisations such as banks, mobile phone and entertainment providers.
Police Scotland are urging locals that if they receive a suspicious call they should not give out any personal information unless they are certain of the identity of the person, don’t give out credit card or bank card details to strangers and never tell somebody your bank PIN number and don’t give out information which may infer that you live alone, are older or vulnerable.
