A woman who attacked a Dalmuir householder as he slept has been told by a sheriff that he thinks she might be “at it”.

Bobbi McIlroy appeared in court for sentencing last week after previously pleading guilty to entering the man’s flat in Dalmuir without permission, striking him on the body and then throwing household items at him, leaving him injured and permanently disfigured.

The incident, which happened at an address in Dalmuir Court on March 9, 2019, was aggravated by being against a partner or ex-partner.

Sheriff William Gallacher pointed out to the 32-year-old’s solicitor that she told social workers “she does not believe she committed the offence”.

But Leo McGinn, representing McIlroy, insisted his client’s position was not one of not taking responsibility.

He told a hearing at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Friday: “She does not have a particular memory and didn’t want to mislead the author of the report.”

Mr McGinn said his client, of Merkins Avenue in Dumbarton, had long-standing issues with alcohol but said she was willing to do unpaid work.

Sheriff Gallacher again questioned whether she was able to do so and called for a report from her GP.

He told McIlroy: “I think you might well be at it. I think you know exactly which buttons you should push.

“If I do think you’re at it, I will send you to jail, because I think that’s the only way justice will work as far as you’re concerned.”

Sentence was deferred to November 3 for the additional report.
