A NEW walk-through Covid-19 testing centre has opened in Old Kilpatrick.
The Napier Hall site is one of 22 announced in August for across Scotland, with the West Dunbartonshire becoming the sixth to go live.
It has a capacity of 300 tests a day. Tests are for those with coronavirus symptoms and booking at nhsinform.scot/test-and-protect or by calling 0800 028 281.
There is currently a mobile testing centre in Dumbarton and a facility is planned for Clydebank, heard the health and social care partnership recently.
The town's MSP, Gil Paterson, said: "Containing and suppressing Covid-19 relies on testing being accessible to everyone.
"This new walk-through testing centre in Old Kilpatrick builds on the sites already in place throughout Scotland and will further increase testing capacity ahead of potential spikes as we move into winter.
"The Scottish Government have been working with the UK Government, NHS and West Dunbartonshire Council to roll out this facility in Old Kilpatrick so that more people have access to local testing.
"However, testing is only one effective intervention that are being used to manage the virus and it remains vital that people continue to follow physical distancing advice and practise good hand and cough hygiene, not just for their own safety but in order to protect others.”
Testing is available for those with Covid-19 symptoms – a high temperature, a new, continuous cough, or a loss or change to sense of smell or taste.
