A WOMAN has been charged with theft and attempted extortion following an incident involving a teenage boy near a shop in Dalmuir last week.
According to police, a 14-year-old boy was walking to school near the Terminus Store on Dumbarton Road at around 12.45pm on Wednesday, May 12, when a woman approached him and asked to borrow his mobile phone.

Police say the woman then walked away from the scene, still holding the phone, and refused to return it until the boy gave her money.
Police officers who were nearby on an unrelated matter were told about what had happened.
A 28-year-old woman was subsequently arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
Police say the woman will appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court a later date.
