Residents in Dalmuir were awoken as a train passed through with its horn on.
The train is believed to have started from Oban made its way through Dalmuir and Clydebank at around 11.20pm last night heading towards Glasgow Queen Street with its horn stuck on.
A video has been provided by resident Douglas Clark who captured the train passing through.
Another source said that ScotRail informed them that the horn was jammed on.
They told the Post: "It gave me the fright of my life. We had kids in the house fast asleep and I jumped out of my skin."
ScotRail have been approached for comment.
