A Duntocher care home is celebrating the opening of its new unit - and enlisted the help of their oldest resident to 'cut the ribbon'.
Kingsacre Care Home had a ceremony on Tuesday to mark the unveiling of its fourth and final part of the facility, named the Windsor Unit.
And resident Vernon West, 88, alongside West Scotland MSP Pam Gosal, was given the job of officially opening the new living space with the traditional ribbon cutting.
The home, open since June 2019, includes a total of 66 beds and provides residents with residential, dementia, nursing and respite care.
And the new Windsor wing will be made up of an additional 17 luxurious en-suite rooms boasting its own dining room, lounge and library.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ms Gosal said she was honoured to be asked to open the unit.
She said: "It was a privilege to open the final unit at the Kingsacre care home, which I have no doubt will prove to be a fantastic place to live and work.
“It has been incredible to see first-hand the astonishing work being carried out by health and social care staff from across the region.
“Care homes have suffered immensely throughout the pandemic and it has been a valuable experience to hear about the challenges faced over the last two difficult years by care home staff and residents alike.”
Home manager Karlynn Wheelan said: "I am grateful to Pam Gosal for opening the final unit at Kingsacre today.
“Staff and residents alike are very excited to finally see the new unit open, and we look forward to working hard to make Kingsacre a great place to both live and work”
Kingsacre opened in July 2019 and employs 59 staff.
