A COMPLAINT by one Clydebank Labour councillor against his colleague of 10 years has been "disallowed".
As reported by the Post, a hearing was held by the electoral registration officer (ERO) for West Dunbartonshire, David Thomson, after an objection by Councillor John Mooney about Councillor Lawrence O'Neill.
Cllr Mooney said his colleague should not be on the electoral register for the area based on a recent address in Duntocher when he was in fact a resident of East Dunbartonshire.
But Mr Thomson rejected the appeal and kept Cllr O'Neill's name on the register.
The representative for the Kilpatrick ward had moved to a home in Duntocher with changes to his personal circumstances and made a statutory declaration that he was entitled to be on the register.
Mr Thomson concluded: "I can confirm that, on the basis of the facts and evidence presented at the hearing, I have determined that the Objection is disallowed."
Cllr Mooney is not standing for re-election in Clydebank Central and Cllr O'Neill will ask voters to return him to council in May.
