SCHOOLCHILDREN from across West Dunbartonshire laced up their running shoes on Friday (May 20) as they took part in a cross-country event held at Balloch Park.
The event was organised by WD Leisure Trust Sports Development Service on behalf of the council and has been hailed a “great success”.
The first race kicked off shortly after 10am with the last of the runners crossing the finish line at around noon.
Nearly 800 youngsters - 797 to be exact - from P5 up to S6 participated on the day with all schools in the area invited.
Little stars from the day will be able to see how they placed once the results are sent back to the schools to be distributed.
A statement posted to West Dunbartonshire Leisure’s Facebook pages reads: “Teamwork makes the dream work. A huge thanks to everyone who helped make today’s cross-country such a great success.
“It’s good to be back running events for our community. We are so proud of every single child who took part.”
