Students who are enrolling on a college or university course in 2022-2023 are being urged to apply for funding before June 30.
The Student Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS) is asking students to apply for fees, bursaries and loans by the end of the month to ensure the money is in place before the start of the academic term.
Students are not required to wait for exam results or an unconditional offer before applying – this can easily be updated at a later date. It’s more important for them to apply now to get their funding on time.
SAAS Interim Chief Executive, Lauren McNamara, said: “For some students it’s probably the first time they’ve had to do an application of this type but SAAS is here to help and make the process as easy as possible.”
To make the application process smoother, SAAS has asked students, parents and carers to ensure they have the necessary paperwork ready before they begin.
This includes household income, as different student finance packages are available depending on circumstances and courses.
Extra help is also available for care experienced students, students with disabilities, students who have children or adult dependents and young students.
Full details of the information required is available on the SAAS website as well as some hints and tips which give answers to the most frequently asked questions.
