BANKIES have been left scratching their heads after part of a well-known sculpture in the town appears to have gone missing.
A photograph sent to the Post shows that the saddle of popular art installation ‘Bankies Bike’ has seemingly disappeared.
A local resident who wishes to remain anonymous noticed the saddle was no longer attached to the bike on their daily commute to work.
They said: “I pass the bike on my walk to work everyday. It’s a bit of a mystery, hopefully there’s someone out there who knows where it is.”
The sculpture was commissioned by West Dunbartonshire Council as part of the ‘Clydebank Rebuilt’ scheme.
It was created by artist John Crosby and is located on the towpath at the Forth and Clyde Canal near Whitecrook Street.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland confirmed cops have not received any reports regarding the missing saddle.
West Dunbartonshire Council has been contacted for comment.
