EIGHT youths have been charged in connection with allegedly causing at least £6,000 worth of damage over several incidents in Faifley. 

It comes after recent reported incidents of fire-raising, vandalism, and anti-social behaviour in the Lennox Drive area. 

Police Scotland confirmed two 12-year-old boys, two 13-year-old boys, and a 14-year-old boy have now been charged in connection with alleged wilful fire-raising at Edinbarnet Primary School.

The incident is reported to have taken place within the school grounds at around 3.30pm on September 26. The Post previously reported a wooden play hut and all of the toys stored inside were completely destroyed in the blaze.

Two 12-year-old boys, a 13-year-old boy, a 13-year-old girl, and 14-year-old girl have also been charged in connection with alleged wilful fire-raising following a fire at The Skypoint Community Centre.

Cops said that the incident also took place on September 26 at around 7.40pm.
It is understood that the play park and a skip were allegedly set alight.
In a further incident, a 12-year-old boy has been charged in connection with alleged wilful fire-raising at Skypoint Faifley, which took place on September 23.
Officers said they will work with partners to ensure “effective intervention” is in place to support and educate those allegedly involved.
The youths will be individually assessed and could potentially be reported to the Children’s Panel. 
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 12-year-old male youth has been charged with wilful fire-raising following a fire at The Skypoint Community Centre, Faifley, on September 23.
“Two 12-year-old male youths, a 13-year-old male youth, a 13-year-old female youth and a 14-year-old female youth have been charged with wilful fire-raising following a fire at The Skypoint Community Centre, Faifley, September 26, at 7.40pm.
“Two 12-year-old male youths, two 13-year-old male youths and a 14-year-old male youth have been charged with wilful fire-raising following a fire at Edinbarnet Primary School on September 26, at 3.30pm.”
Police stated on their Facebook page £6,000 worth of damaged was caused, however it is understood this is an indicative cost and the actual damage could be much more.
