STAFF at a Clydebank primary school have been told their "very strong leadership skills" are helping improve kids learning experience, an inspection report revealed.

Our Holy Redeemer Primary School returned some strong feedback after it welcomed a team of inspectors from Education Scotland in September.

The school was given a 'very good' rating for both the Leadership of change and Ensuring wellbeing, equality and inclusion categories and a 'good' rating for Learning, teaching and assessment and Raising attainment and achievement.

Head teacher Joanne Graham was described as someone who "demonstrates very strong leadership skills" and someone who is "hard-working, caring and reflective".

The report added: "This has led to children’s wellbeing, equality and inclusion needs being met very effectively.

"Additionally, almost all staff and partners, including parents, speak very positively of the very supportive and confident way in which the headteacher and senior leaders led the school through the pandemic."

The religious school was also praised for its 'nurturing Catholic ethos across the school' and welcomed the teachers and staff regularly reflecting on their profession and making improvements.

There were some areas for improvement listed in the report, with the review stating: "Staff should continue to develop a shared understanding of standards in literacy and numeracy by engaging more fully with the National Benchmarks and in moderation activities.

"This will strengthen the accuracy of teachers’ professional judgements. They should also use data more effectively to further inform the school’s work and to continue to improve outcomes for all children."

But the school was again praised for its use of learning spaces on the campus, adding it is helping kids interact with each other.

It read: "This has helped children to develop their social skills as they work together.

"Staff also make effective use of outdoor learning to motivate children’s learning."

West Dunbartonshire Council did not wish to comment on the report.
