PEOPLE living near the railway line in Yoker are being warned of overnight works next to the track – beginning in the next few days.

Network Rail engineers will be carrying out clearance work on the embankment next to the line in the Yoker area between Sunday, January 8 and Thursday, January 12.

The work will take place overnight – and Network Rail says it wants to apologise in advance for any disruption caused to people living near the tracks.

Most trains will run as normal, but ScotRail says there will be some changes to late night services, with replacement buses provided to plug the gaps in the timetable.

The changes to services will be as follows.

Sunday, January 8, 2022

The 2208 Larkhall to Balloch and 2241 Motherwell to Balloch services will not call at Jordanhill, Scotstounhill, Garscadden, Yoker or Clydebank.

The 2239 and 2309 Balloch to Yoker services will terminate at Dalmuir and will not call at Clydebank or Yoker.

The 2240 Edinburgh to Dalmuir service will terminate at Garscadden, and will not call at Yoker, Clydebank or Dalmuir.

Monday, January 9 until Thursday, January 12

The 2121 Cumbernauld to Dalmuir and 2216 Motherwell to Dalmuir services will terminate at Garscadden and will not call at Yoker, Clydebank or Dalmuir.

The 2227 and 2324 Springburn to Balloch services will not call at Jordanhill, Scotstounhill, Garscadden, Yoker or Clydebank.

The 2244 Balloch to Springburn service will not call at Clydebank, Yoker, Garscadden, Scotstounhill or Jordanhill.

The 2303 Dalmuir to Motherwell service will start from Garscadden and will not call at Dalmuir, Clydebank or Yoker.

On all dates, the cancelled or amended services will be replaced by buses between Hyndland/Garscadden and Dalmuir in both directions.

Kirsty Armstrong, Network Rail's scheme project manager for the vegetation clearance work, said: “Network Rail manages thousands of miles of trees and vegetation along the railway to maintain safety for passengers and lineside communities and to make sure the railway runs efficiently.

“Our work between Jordanhill and Dalmuir will create a clear, tree-free corridor either side of the railway to reduce the risks that large trees and overgrown vegetation can pose – particularly to an electrified railway.

“Elements of this work are unavoidably at night for safety reasons, however the teams are always mindful of the impact their work may have and do what they can to minimise this.

“We want to apologise in advance if anyone is disturbed by the project.”
