Bankies can now hire an electric car by the hour after the launch of a new car-sharing initiative at the Clydebank waterfront.
Co Wheels Car Club, a UK social enterprise organisation, has deployed an electric vehicle at the new Queens Quay housing development that enables drivers who don't own a car to have access to transport whenever they need it.
The car-share scheme launched with support from Clydebank Housing Association (CHA), with insurance included in the hire fee. It is available to anyone over 19 with at least two years of a full licence.
Tony Archer, Co wheels Scottish development manager, said: “The Car Club provides access to a car when you need one rather than ownership and is ideal for those who don’t want to maintain a car themselves or those whose households may need access to an occasional second car.
"It also allows access for those not ready to own an electric car to still get access to the new technology without the cost of buying and maintaining one”.
The care for hire at Queen's Quay is an MGZSEV estate and is available to hire at £6.70 per hour +12p a mile for electricity.
There’s also a day rate of £53.60 +12p a mile for those planning a longer hire period.
Co wheels is offering an introductory membership offer for Clydebank residents which includes no joining fee & £25 credit on new accounts.
