A WOMAN who launched a plastic bottle at a KFC worker has been warned she "should have walked away".

Kaitlyn Kenny, of Ottawa Crescent, Clydebank, threw the bottle across the counter at the staff member after he made comments and acted aggressive towards her almost three years ago.

She was warned by Sheriff Maxwell Hendry that after she made a complaint to the manager for the employee's demeanour she should have walked away.

At Dumbarton Sheriff Court last week the 22-year-old admitted to assault the staff member at KFC on Livingstone Street on July 29, 2020 and did throw a bottle at him that struck him on the body.

Scott Adair, defending said: "The only explanation is that it was a plastic bottle. The situation is she had been in the fast food outlet and a member of staff had made certain comments upon her friends. They seemed to be laughing and what she did was she did initially walk away.

"She made a complaint to the manager about the way the member of staff behaved. There seemed to be crossed words explained which most of it was seen on CCTV.

"The member of staff appeared certainly aggressive towards her behind the counter and she threw a bottle of juice across the counter at him. As she has acknowledges she should have simply walked away."

Sheriff Hendry said: "This does seem to be an isolated incident, but there are obviously issues that could be addressed and you might benefit from some support."

The sheriff placed her on a structured deferred sentence for six months and a further review was set for March.
