A Clydebank woman who pleaded guilty to an assault has been admonished, but the sheriff warned she may not get off so lightly in the future.
Diane Massie, of Cherry Crescent, admitted assaulting a man at her home on October 19 last year. The offence was aggravated by being against a partner or ex.
The 50-year-old attempted to seize him on the body and tried to grab his glasses from his face, leaving a scratch below his eye.
She entered her plea at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on in November, with Sheriff Maxwell Hendry deferring sentencing for three months for Massie to be of good behaviour.
She returned to the court on Friday, February 10, where the fiscal depute confirmed no further offending had occurred.
Massie’s defence solicitor said his client had experienced difficulties with alcohol, but had abstained for a “long time” before the incident occurred.
He added: “She had a bad day, shall we say, on October 19, and had an argument.”
Sheriff Hendry told Massie that her behaviour on that day “crossed a line”, and told the court he had since received an positive email from the complainer.
Admonishing and dismissing her, he said: “I am going to deal with you in the most lenient way I can.
“That does constitute a criminal record. If you were to reoffend, a judge would see you have this on your record and it is unlikely they would deal with you in such a lenient manner.”
