A man has denied threatening to remove his clothes during a visit to a Clydebank councillor’s surgery.

Andrew Muir pleaded not guilty to behaving in a threatening and abusive manner while at Councillor Clare Steel’s surgery at Dalmuir Barclay Church on January 27.

Court papers allege that the 64-year-old repeatedly shouted, swore, gesticulated, and uttered offensive remarks.

Mr Muir is alleged to have refused to desist when requested to do so at the venue.

He is also alleged to have uttered threats to remove his clothing, and to have refused to leave the premises when requested.

Mr Muir, of Crosslet Avenue, Dumbarton, pleaded not guilty to the charge during a brief hearing at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Tuesday, February 28.

He was released on bail, and was ordered to not contact or communicate with the local councillor as part of his bail conditions.

As a further special condition of bail he has been ordered to not enter five buildings in Clydebank where the councillor works, including The Hub on Kilbowie Road, the LL Hall in Linnvale Primary School, St Stephen’s Primary School, Dalmuir Barclay Church and Carers of West Dunbartonshire Centre on Dumbarton Road.

A trial has been fixed for a later date by Sheriff David Pender.
