SENIOR pupils at high schools across West Dunbartonshire move on to a new chapter of their lives today as they leave school.
It is a huge occasion and one that should be celebrated.
Police are however issuing a reminder that young people should celebrate responsibly.
Officers said that in previous years excess alcohol consumption has led to "poor decision-making resulting in serious disorder and anti-social behaviour" (ASB).
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We would like to congratulate all school leavers across Argyll & West Dunbartonshire.
"Today is a proud day for you and your families and your achievements should be celebrated responsibly.
"In previous years excess alcohol consumption has led to poor decision making resulting in serious disorder and ASB.
"This leads to young persons putting themselves at risk. Please don’t start this new chapter of your life by picking up unnecessary and potentially life-altering criminal charges.
"We ask all parents and carers to keep in touch with your children who are planning on celebrating today and to help us keep them safe.
"Our officers will be out supporting local communities today ensuring any acts of disorder or ASB are dealt with proportionally."
