PARENTS and grandparents of seriously ill children who are being treated in hospital were given a much-needed pamper day recently.
Families staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Glasgow enjoyed a relaxing afternoon last week thanks to hairdressing students from West College Scotland’s [WCS] Clydebank campus.
The kind-hearted students volunteered some of their assessment time to give residents haircuts and blow dries under the supervision of their lecturer Sandra.
For those staying at the charity’s accommodation, which gives parents and caregivers a place to stay while their child is in hospital, haircuts aren’t at the top of their priority list so it was a welcomed break.
Morven Aikma, curriculum quality leader at WCS’s Clydebank campus, said: “It was an amazing opportunity for our Year 3 students to go along with their lecturer Sandra Clark and provide haircuts at Ronald McDonald House.
“The students were delighted to offer their services to such a special charity. They are continuing to offer services in the future and include the excellent workers within the house too.
“A fabulous experience all round!”
