A LOCAL inclusive dance class is set to wow crowds this week in their biggest show yet.

Talented students in the ‘Move It’ class at April’s Street Feet in Dalmuir will be showing off their skills – and brand new uniforms – at Clydebank Leisure Centre on Friday.

The class is open to adults with additional support needs [ASN] and has been running for over a year now.

April Stuart-Macrae, owner of April’s Street Feet, told the Post her pupils have gone from strength to strength and she is “buzzing” for their first big show.

April said: “The classes have been on for over a year but it has just really started to pick up now. It’s mobbed.

“There are currently around 27 students in the class and they are all from Clydebank.

"They absolutely love it and I’m so buzzing to see them getting to do shows and competitions.

“This will be our first show with the whole group. There are about six or seven pupils who have been here since the start, however, this will be the first show for the majority.

“They are going to be doing a number from Grease. They are so excited.”

The show is scheduled to begin around 6.30pm and will run for two hours.

April explained that Friday’s event will be a ‘floor show’ which means dancers will not be on a stage.

Instead, the leisure centre will be transformed into a huge performance area featuring backdrop lights.

Attendees will be able to enjoy an evening of incredible dancing and a live singer.

April added: “This show will be a floor show as it will be less daunting for those who haven’t done one before.

“We’re going to be turning Clydebank Leisure Centre into a big show area. We have a girl coming to sing, she is phenomenal, pupils from the dance college in Glasgow are going to be doing a dance, and then I’ve got our world champion kids.

“It will be a good wee night.”

Reflecting on the past 12 months, April said she started the ASN classes after speaking to her friend who works as a carer.

She said: “She said there weren’t many ASN dance classes so I just started doing a wee class on a Wednesday morning.

“We had around five or six people coming along and we’ve just built it up from there.

"The students were coming in saying ‘this is the best day of my week’, they just loved it.

“It’s such an amazing class, it’s one of my favourite classes of the week.”

Tickets for the show on Friday are currently still available.

Those interested in going along are asked to contact April's Street Feet on Facebook.

Alternatively, tickets will also be available at the dance studio on Dunn Street on Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
