COMMUTERS have hit out after being left “stranded” in Clydebank last night as trains through the area were cancelled.
We previously reported that rail bosses had issued a warning of travel chaos after overhead lines between Dalmuir and Kilpatrick were damaged.
As emergency crews worked to resolve the incident rail services in the area were subject to cancellations and delays for most of the evening.
ScotRail said it had requested buses at Dalmuir, Westerton, Hyndland, Balloch, and Helensburgh Central.
However, those travelling from these stations were later advised to make their own alternative travel arrangements due to “challenges in securing replacement transport”.
Due to no replacement transport being secured, we are now advising to not travel on the following routes as we cannot guarantee travel this evening.

Dalmuir - Kilpatrick.
Balloch - Airdrie.
Cumbernauld - Dalmuir.
Helensburgh Central - Edinburgh.
One person said: “So disappointed that there were no replacement bus services after being put off of the train at Dalmuir.
“I didn’t know where to go and couldn’t get a taxi or a bus. Literally standing at the road not knowing what to do next. Very poor.”
A second added: “Need some news, please. It is very hot and uncomfortable on the train. Been stuck here for 90 minutes.”
A third commented: “Absolute joke. The app was saying trains running, no audible announcements at the station.
“On enquiring at the kiosk was told there had been no trains since about 4pm.
"Had to get someone to take a 40-mile round trip to collect me as I was stranded.”
Phil Campbell, ScotRail head of customer operations, said: “We’re sorry to customers who experienced disruption to their journey as a result of this incident.
“We did everything we could to keep people moving while engineers worked to fix the issue.
“Compensation is available through our Delay Repay Guarantee for anyone who was impacted by the delays or cancellations.”
