A DRUMCHAPEL man has hit out at Glasgow City Council saying he is ‘embarrassed’ by their ‘shoddy’ work in painting the community’s roads.
Local man John Henderson noticed newly laid markings around Drumry Road East, Kinfauns Drive, Linkwood Drive and Garscadden Road looked like they had been painted by someone who was ‘drunk’.
And Mr Henderson branded the skewered outlines as a disgrace as he blasted the local authority for the ‘badly done job.’
He told the Clydebank Post: “I think whoever has done it was drunk at the time.
“The lines weave over the road. In many places, they have not caught the drips and spilt gallons of paint all over the place.
“Also, they have been in so much of a hurry, road and cars have driven across the road, dragging the paint elsewhere and no doubt all over their cars.”
Before adding: “It’s an absolute disgrace.
“And the thing is, we are paying for it as Glasgow City Council residents.
“I’m totally embarrassed by their shoddy workmanship.”
However, Glasgow City Council defended the work, blaming the unusually hot period of weather in June as the cause of the paint not drying quickly enough.
A spokesperson said: “We are aware of this situation, and we are liaising with the contractor who originally did the work to have these issues rectified.
"The lining work was undertaken during the hot weather experienced in early June this year.
"Unfortunately, the high temperatures at the time meant the hot paint used for road markings took longer to cool than normal and the markings have then been disrupted by traffic.
"We are working with the contractor so they can undertake the necessary remedial work as soon as possible."
