A LOCAL food charity was saying "laskavo prosymo" to Ukrainian families new to the community at the weekend as it hosted a family fun day.
The Ukrainian term for "welcome" was heard at the Old Kilpatrick Food Parcels hub on Station Road as the charity greeted several new families who had spent the last 12 months living on a cruise ship in Edinburgh.
The afternoon was packed with hilarity, with food ordered from Domino's Pizza and Mcdonald's to keep the kids and adults fed.
Face painting and henna tattoos were also on offer as the group welcomed more than 50 visitors.
OKFP founder Maureen Cummings branded the day a "huge success" and said it is the least she could do for the Ukrainian people after Russia invaded its border in February last year.
Maureen said: "We will never know the heartache these families are living with and it is great to be able to offer them a space to come together and enjoy chatting, especially the children making new friends."
