A FOUL-MOUTHED voicemail allegedly left to a patient by a Clydebank doctors surgery receptionist has caused a widespread outcry amongst locals.

On Friday, an anonymous member of community Facebook group Call Yerself a Bankie (CYAB) posted an eight-second video clip apparently showing a voicemail message left by a lady on the reception desk of the Purple Wing Surgery at the Clydebank Health Centre.

In the clip, the voice in the audio message is believed to say: "No I'm not leaving a message, she canny f***ing answer her phone, she can see a missed call from an 0800 number."

The member who posted the video goes on to add that the receptionist, who it is claimed is unaware she is leaving the message on the recorded voicemail inbox, goes on to chat for a further four minutes.

The short video caused outrage amongst CYAB members, many of whom urged the unnamed patient to demand a meeting with the practice manager. 

One wrote: "That’s shocking!! Who do these jumped-up receptionists think they are!! I’d be down asking to speak to the head of the practice!!!!!"

Another said: "I would be reporting that to the practice manager in the first instance and if they do nothing about it, I'd be taking it further up the chain because that's absolutely disgusting."

A third added "What a stupid statement to make.

"Most people do not answer 0800 numbers as it is more often than not someone trying to sell you something or scam you.

"The smart thing to do is leave a message so the patient can get back to you.

"Surely it can’t be left like this and the receptionist must keep calling until she does get an answer.

"That’s why it is in her best interest to leave a message.

"Honestly I despair!"

The Purple Wing Surgery at the Queen's Quay health hub is believed to be looked after by Dr Rai and Partners.

A spokesperson for NHSGGC told the Post: “As with all GP services across Scotland, the practice in Clydebank is an independent contractor and staff are not employees of the board.

“Any individual incidents will be managed by the practice and we would encourage all patients to report any concerns they may have directly to them. ”
