Cannabis worth an estimated street value of up to £250,000 was allegedly seized during a drug bust on a Glasgow industrial estate.

Police Scotland officers descended on the New Albion Industrial Estate in Yoker just after 7am on Thursday, September 21 after executing a warrant at the site.

A 33-year-old man was arrested and charged at the scene in connection with drugs offences and was due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday, September 22.

The drug haul in Glasgow - estimated to be between £80,000 and £250,000 - was the first on a day of drug raids across the central belt.

Later that morning, a second recovery took place in Livingston, where large cannabis plants with an estimated street value of between £500,000 and £600,000 were reportedly seized.

Detective Inspector Alan Ferguson said: “These incidents are not linked. They are significant recoveries, and they underline our commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the country’s Serious Organised Crime Strategy.

“We will continue to use every tool and tactic at our disposal to prevent the sale and distribution of illegal drugs in our local communities.
