TWO much-loved Clydebank chippys have been nominated for awards at the inaugural Scottish Fish and Chip Awards.
Staple of the community McMonagles joined relative newcomer Perfect Catch at being recognised at the upcoming national event.
Hardgate eatery Perfect Catch is a family-run business that first opened its doors during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The nod from the Fish and Chip judges in the Best Pizza (West) category is the first time the team have been nominated for any kind of award since they began in 2021 and office manager Vicky McCann admitted she still can't believe it.
Speaking to the Clydebank Post, Vicky said: “It was a big shock because we are up against really well-established premises around the way.
“For us being a local family business, it is great.
“It has a great buzz and a great effect on the team within Perfect Catch.
"It’s lovely, it just shows all their hard work has paid off.”
Vicky says their success is down to building up their name with locals, which helps when they are Hardgate natives themselves.
It is a familiar feeling for the team at McMonagles, who can add their place in the finalists of the Best Fish Tea in Scotland category to the nomination as Best Takeaway Restaurant at the Scottish Takeaway Awards - a gong they took home last year.
The first-ever Scottish Fish and Chip Awards will take place on November 13 with a Gala Night where the winners will be crowned.
