Drumchapel’s ‘Hallowe’en Wumin’ set for ‘goriest’ night yet

Leeanne Stevens admits she has had to seek the help of an event management company who have worked at music festivals just to meet the expected clamour from both kids and adults for her ‘Hallowe’en House.’

Last year, Leeanne says she was “astounded” by the sheer number of people who arrived at her Invercanny Drive horror exhibition, an initiative she began three years ago to give back to the Drumchapel community who helped her when she needed it.

And she promised she has catered for all ages this year, even if she concedes this season’s showing might be a little less “PG".

Speaking exclusively to the Clydebank Post, Leeanne said: “I was astounded last year by the amount of people that came. I really was. I was blown over. I did not expect it.

“I had only made 850 sweetie cones. My son had to make two more runs to the supermarket to get more sweets.”

And added: “This year will be a little bit gorier, a bit more interactive.

“We are picking up a special piece of apparatus which is going to be an amazing photo opportunity.

“This is going to be really popular, especially with the kids, I can’t tell you any more than that, it’s a surprise for everyone.”

Insisting the display has grown “bigger than she could ever have imagined,” Leeanne revealed she has hired a Drumchapel events team to manage the demand for the show, which will include appearances from horror favourites Michael Myers and Jason, as well as some “fleshy” skeletons.

“Last year I hired a company, and the night didn’t turn out too great,” Leeanne continued.

“But this year, I am hiring Castlemania and they, as well as being a local business, do a lot of big events like festivals and the like.”

Leeanne’s Hallowe’en event is already well underway with her garden already adorned with some scary sights.

But she admits she is better prepared for what she calls her “favourite night of the year", and she is now just counting down to October 31.

She finished: “I’ve said to my sons, I’ve made a rod for my own back here, because you have got to make it different. You’ve got to change it up. You can’t have the same stuff.

“And I’ve had the same stuff for the last two years, so this year, I’ve got a few wee different things coming.”
