A NEW date has been set for the delayed full weekend closure of a busy part of the Erskine Bridge which joins onto the A82.
Works on the northbound slip road from the bridge had originally been pencilled in for the weekend of Friday, November 17 but were postponed due to bad weather and have now been rescheduled for 8pm on Friday, December 8 until 6am on Monday, December 11.
It means motorists looking to head for Dumbarton and the Vale and Helensburgh from the bridge will instead head towards Clydebank and follow a diversion to eventually get back on the road west.
The diverted route will take drivers eastbound and then left onto Mountblow Road before turning right at Melbourne Avenue and joining the A82 westbound.
HGV traffic will continue on the A82 eastbound to Kilbowie Roundabout and will take the fifth exit to join the A82 westbound.
Amey, the motorway engineering firm that maintains the road on behalf of Transport Scotland, says the closure is due to "essential" bridge expansion works, and that the 46,000 vehicles that use the section of the road every day will see the benefits not long after the job is complete.
