The victim of a New Year's Day burglary believes the people who raided his man cave were waiting for his Hogmanay celebrations to finish up before striking.
Brian Murray’s converted outhouse bar was raided on January 1 with the thieves making off with around £750 worth of goods.
Alongside his friends and family, the Knightswood resident welcomed the first day of 2024 by hosting a party on New Year's Eve.
The shindig wrapped up around 4am and, after some much-needed rest, Brian and his partner headed out to the bar around 1pm to start the clean-up job.
It was then they discovered they had been the target of an early morning robbery with bottles of whisky, gin, and vodka as well as a Rolex-style wall clock, a guitar and a 60th birthday plaque all missing from the extension.
Brian told the Clydebank Post: “I think they were waiting for us to put the lights out and then struck.
“We had been up until about quarter to four having a drink and then went to bed.
“We got up about 12.30 pm and when we went to square the place up, we noticed they had gone in through the window.”
Brian revealed his neighbour had also had his place burgled approximately four weeks ago and he believes it is possibly the same people.
He claims forensic teams found a hammer and a bottle of whisky on his back grass where he believes the criminals dropped the items as they quickly exited through his back fence.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a break-in to and theft from a shed on Cloberhill Road, Glasgow, around 2 pm on Monday, January 1 2024.
“Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with any information or private CCTV footage is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 2671 of January 1, 2024.”
