A Post Office branch in Glasgow has announced its shock closure.
Peterson Park Post Office on Yokermill Road in the city closed on Saturday, March 30.
The mail firm has said the branch was 'withdrawn' from Post Office use after the postmaster resigned.
We previously reported that the Post Office reopened in April 2023 following a seven-month major refurbishment project.
The branch was located within a Nisa store - however, the Nisa store remains open.
In terms of replacing it, the Post Office has said they are 'facing a particularly challenging period'.
The retailer said: "The impact of rising costs, inflation, and finite funding from the Government means that while we will always look to reopen branches when they close, we cannot commit to doing so in every instance, including Peterson Park".
Following the shock closure, local residents took to social media to express their sadness at the news.
One said: "Poor old people that need it."
While another added: "Another blow - the Post Office has shut at the new Nisa - shocking."
A Post Office spokesperson said: “The Postmaster for Peterson Park has resigned and the premises have been withdrawn for Post Office use on March 30.
“In terms of replacing the branch, the Post Office is facing a particularly challenging period, as are other high street retailers.
"The impact of rising costs, inflation and finite funding from the Government mean that while we will always look to reopen branches when they close, we cannot commit to doing so in every instance, including Peterson Park.
"There are nearby alternative branches that customers can visit.
"Dyke Road Post Office is 0.5 miles away and Garscadden Road is 0.8 miles away.”
