DRIVERS are being warned of overnight road closures on the A82.

Amey recently announced it would be carrying out essential resurfacing works near Bowling on behalf of Transport Scotland.

These will take place in two phases between Sunday, June 2 and Tuesday, June 25.

Phase one

The first phase – resurfacing the northbound carriageway - will get underway from Sunday, June 2 to Sunday, June 8.

It will be carried out between the A814 at Bowling/Old Kilpatrick and the Dunglass Roundabout in Dumbarton.

During this time there will be overnight full road closures between 10pm and 6am each night.

There will also be additional lane closures on the southbound carriageway from 8pm each night.

A diversion route will be in place and the road will re-open each day as normal while works are being carried out.

Access and exit to the Dunglass roundabout from Balloch and Bowling will be maintained.

Amey said traffic management should be removed by 6am on Sunday, June 9.

Phase two

The second phase – resurfacing of the southbound carriageway – will take place between Thursday, June 13 and Monday, June 24.

Again this will require overnight full road closures between 10pm and 6am each night.

There will also be additional lane closures on the northbound carriageway from 8pm each night.

Similarly to phase one, there will be a diversion route in place during this time and the road will re-open each day during the works.

Traffic management is expected to be removed by 6am on Thursday, June 25.

Northbound

Traffic from the A898 Erskine Bridge will be diverted to the southbound carriageway of the A82 to join the A810 Dumbarton Road and follow the diversion above to Kilbowie Roundabout to rejoin the northbound A82.

Northbound

Traffic from the A82 will turn at Mountblow Road to go south on the A82 and take the A810 Dumbarton Road – Glasgow Road – Duntocher Road through Clydebank before joining the B8050 Baljaffray Road.

From here, vehicles will head north on the A809 Stockiemuir Road to the A811, north of Croftamie and continue southwest to re-join the northbound A82 at Balloch.

Southbound

A82 traffic will be diverted from the A811 at Balloch and travel via the A809 to Bearsden.

From here, vehicles will be directed onto the B8050 Baljaffray Road and onto the A810 Glasgow Road to join the southbound A82 and have the option to turn at the Kilbowie Roundabout and travel northbound for the Erskine Bridge and towards Dumbarton.

It is noted that emergency vehicle and local access will be provided throughout the works.

Amey added that all works are weather-dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are poor.

It is hoped the resurfacing will benefit vehicles using the road each day by improving the condition of the carriageway and reducing the need for extensive work in the future.
