A CLYDEBANK man has been fined for threatening to kill his ex and her new partner.

Ross McColl, of Gleniffer View, has also been ordered to stay away from his ex for the next two years over his behaviour in April.

The 26-year-old previously pleaded guilty to sending messages on social media and repeatedly uttering abusive remarks and threats of violence to two people between April 29 and May 1 this year.

This was aggravated by being against a partner or ex.

Dumbarton Sheriff Court on June 18 was told McColl and his ex had ended their relationship in 2020.

Earlier this year, the woman's new partner received messages from McColl on Facebook stating: "Try to play da' to my weans and I'll waste you."

Two days later, in the early hours of May 1, he got further messages on Facebook that were again threatening and abusive, stating: "How do you not message me back you wee p*ssy?"

He also said: "I'll end you."

Later that morning, the ex also got messages by Snapchat including, "your boyfriend's getting done in" and "I will drive up to Dumbarton and do your dad in as well".

And he stated: "I will murder yous all."

McColl also said he would blow up his ex's car with her and her new partner inside.

Police were informed and arrested the man later that day. He told officers he was "heavily under the influence and could not remember much", the court heard.

Defence solicitor Scott Adair said his client was a first offender and he had "little recollection of what was said".

"He was disgusted by the comments," said Mr Adair. "He was not in a particularly good place. He had taken drink and certain tablets. He is apologetic for all of that."

Sheriff Shirley McKenna said: "Your behaviour was despicable. But you have shown remorse."

She fined him £500 plus a £20 victim surcharge. A non-harassment order will protect his ex for two years.
