A PENSIONER who still keeps fit and has a bustling social life is showing no sign of slowing down despite turning 100.

Mary Alexander, from Knightswood, celebrated her 100th birthday on June 15 in style as she continues to lead an active life.

A former member of the Land Army, Mary hasn’t let the years slow her down as she is a member of several local clubs.

One of which was St Mary’s Thursday Club in Duntocher who was thrilled to throw a party for her last week to celebrate the momentous occasion.

Attended by the Provost Douglas McAllister, Mary was treated to a bite to eat and chat.

Fellow member Rose Smith described Mary as “brilliant” having been a member of the Thursday club for five years now.

Rose said: “Mary is just wonderful. She doesn’t let anything beat her. She really enjoys the bingo and the dancing.

“She took up dancing at the age of 70, she’s so active. She is also a member of the British Legion.

“Mary is such a sociable person everyone loves her.”
