Disruption is 'inevitable' after a sinkhole has formed at a popular shopping centre.

Scottish Water says they were alerted to the sinkhole near Clyde Shopping Centre in Clydebank.

The affected area is Coldstream Road a few metres off the roundabout at the junction with Argyll Road and Livingstone Street.

Teams will now have to go and excavate the sewer and repair the damage before restoring the road, and this will affect people using the car parks and entrance to the shopping centre.

Local businesses and Royal Mail will also be affected.

Four-way traffic lights have been set up on the roundabout near the shopping centre and these will be manually operated between 7am and 10pm.

A Scottish Water spokesperson said: “This is the main vehicle entrance into the shopping centre for both customers using the car parks but also businesses and the Royal Mail.

“Unfortunately to be able to excavate the sewer, assess and repair the damage and reinstate the road safely we have to set up traffic management in the form of four-way lights on the roundabout.

“They will be manually operated between 7am and 10pm but a degree of disruption is inevitable.

“We would like to thank everyone affected for their patience and understanding while we carry out this repair.”
