THE treasurer of a Clydebank arts initiative has opened up on the importance of the service in fighting social isolation.
Margaret McGregor helps run the Wee Scottish Arts Group which is based in Dalmuir Community Centre.
The group – which has around 15 members - will be selling their paintings and drawings during a five-week gallery exhibition at Clydebank Town Hall between Friday, August 9 and Tuesday, September 17, with the proceeds going to a variety of charities of their choosing.
Margaret, 84, opened up on the importance of the initiative.
"It is really important to be able to get out of the house when you are older and this group helps a lot with that," she said.
"It is a good bunch of people and we have ex-art teachers who are among the members so people have been able to train those who have joined over the years.
"The group is really important for helping to combat social isolation amongst older people.
"It is vital to be able to talk to people. Services have been reduced for years now and this group is one of the few places where we can get together. "
