A CLYDEBANK politician has presented a local author with a parliamentary motion to recognise the release of her 10th book.

Emma Clapperton, who writes under the pseudonym, Alex Kane, released her latest title 'Two Sisters' back in March at an event in Waterstones on Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow.

The majority of the author’s published work falls under the gangland thriller genre, and the newest release is a sequel to her previous title Janey.

Emma, who previously worked in childcare for two decades, became a full-time author in 2022 and now works with her publisher Hera Books.

And Marie McNair MSP was keen to highlight the writer's success.

She said: "It was great to meet Emma and present a parliamentary motion to her in recognition of her achievements as an author.

“I always love seeing local talent, and Emma really is that, having published her 10th book now.

“She has clearly worked so hard to get to this point, and I couldn’t be happier for her that she is doing something that she loves.

“I wish her all the best for her future career and look forward to many more thrilling novels."

Emma added: "It was lovely to meet Marie and be presented with the motion.

"It was such a surreal experience, however, something that I am very proud of.

“I am thoroughly enjoying my writing career and hope that I can produce many more novels.”
