A MAN has been charged with dangerous driving after reportedly failing to stop for police and then trying to run away.
The incident happened on Dumbarton Road in Clydebank shortly after 9am on Monday, August 19 after road traffic officers were at the location carrying out vehicle checks.
Cops signalled to the driver of a Ford Transit van to stop who allegedly failed to do so and continued on.
Police followed after the van which continued to fail to stop when instructed.
The vehicle was driven through numerous streets before being abandoned at Kirkwood Avenue.

The driver allegedly tried to run away but was subsequently apprehended and identified as a 29-year-old man from Clydebank.
Relevant checks were concluded and he was also charged with driving while disqualified, having no insurance, failing to stop for police and driving a vehicle in a dangerous condition.
He was held in custody for court.
