Join us as we take a trip down memory lane to reminisce about what was happening in Clydebank fifteen years ago.

We have delved into the Post’s archives to pick out some stories from more than ten years ago.

Here are some photographs from our edition published on September 9, 2009.

Do you remember these stories or spot any familiar faces?

1. Site will keep alive old High memories

(Image: Archives) Robert Jennings, 25, was determined the recently-demolished Clydebank High would not be lost to history and set up a website dedicated to all things Clydebank High.

He appealed to other former pupils to contribute their photographs and stories to the site and hoped to build a history going right back to its beginnings at the end of the 19th Century.

2. Generous bookmaker

(Image: Archives) A generous bookmaker placed a bet on a football game and then donated all the proceeds to St Margaret of Scotland Hospice.

Totesport on Kilbowie road placed a charity bet of £100 and managed to win over £200 for the Whitecrook hospice.

3. Taxi driver team

(Image: Archives) Hard working shop staff turned their hands to profits of a different kind, as they raised a four-figure sum for a cancer charity.

The Clydebank Co-op grafters staged events such as an auction, a raffle, a fashion show and the ever-popular Strawberry Tea, to reach the magical figure of £4,500 for Breast Cancer Care.

5. Bowling club marks 125 years

(Image: Archives) A club embedded in the fabric of the town marked a century-and-a-quarter on the greens with a special celebration.

Clydebank Bowling Club turned 125-years-old in 2009 and members — of all ages and abilities — were on hand to salute the Whitecrook institution.
