An appeal has been launched to track down the owner of a dog who attacked an 81-year-old woman last week.

Maud Morrison and her dog, Alfie, suffered 'significant injuries' after they were attacked on Beeches Road at 3pm last Thursday, September 19.

We previously reported how Maud's granddaughter shared her disgust that the man whose dog attacked them walked away and didn't help despite an injury to Maud's leg.

She said: "It's absolutely horrendous. She’s 81 years of age and she was just taking her dog out for a walk.

"The owner was holding the lead but I think the dog is quite big and perhaps uncontrollable, but when the dog ran the guy let go of the lead.

"It just came running right up to my gran and went for them both. Her leg got bitten and the owner witnessed the full thing.

"My gran was shouting: ‘My legs bleeding, you need to help me’ and the guy just walked away from her."

The incident left Alfie with puncture wounds that were treated at an animal hospital and Maud with a nasty wound that required an ambulance to take her for treatment.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "About 1500 hours on Thursday, September 19, 2024, a female was out walking her dog close to the junction of Beeches Road and Beeches Avenue in Clydebank. At this time her dog was attacked by another much larger dog described as being light and dark brown in colour.

"The female attempted to separate the dogs along with a male who is thought to be the owner of the larger dog. The dogs were separated and the male who is thought to be the owner left before being identified. The female sustained significant injuries during this attach as did her dog. Both required medial treatment.

"If you have any information that could help identify the owner of the dog responsible for this attack please contact 101 and quote incident 2320 of 19/09/24 or come into Clydebank Police Station and speak with an officer in person."
