A project to tackle dampness and mould in West Dunbartonshire Council properties has been shortlisted for a prestigious award.
The rollout of environmental sensors throughout the local authorities' properties began at the start of this year, with the housing service having recently reached the 1000th installation milestone.
The project has now been nominated for the excellence in health and wellbeing category at the Chartered Institute of Housing (Scotland) Scottish Housing Awards.
The sensors track data on air quality, humidity, and other environmental factors, allowing the council to identify condensation problems early and advise tenants on management strategies to prevent mould growth.
The devices can be retrofitted with minimal disruption and operate from a SIM card, eliminating the need for tenants' internet connections.
They also allow tenants to monitor their own home data via an app, with additional support and guidance from the council.
Councillor Gurpreet Singh Johal, convener of housing and communities, said: "This is a landmark moment for the council.
"Having fitted 1000 environmental sensors within our homes and to be nominated for a Scottish Housing Award at the same time for this innovative project is fantastic news.
"These devices are a vital part of ensuring our housing stock remains at a high standard for tenants and avoids costly repairs further down the line."
The data collected by the sensors has already proven valuable in preventing costly repairs.
In one instance, the council identified a broken down pipe due to consistently high humidity readings from a tenant's sensor.
This early intervention prevented major damage to the property and improved air quality for the tenant.
Councillor Hazel Sorrell, vice convener of housing and communities, said: "I am delighted that this important project has been recognised with a nomination at the Scottish Housing Awards.
"Congratulations to the team who have worked so hard on this for the benefit of our tenants and the council as landlord."
The Scottish Housing Awards ceremony will take place in November.
